A room of pink and purple

Two weeks ago I got a ton of fabric to start on my daughters room. What have I done with it? Nothing.
I has sat waiting while I make more interesting things. So yesterday I finally did it.
Okay, not the most amazing photo, but I made it, finally! A simple bed skirt. No pleats or ruffles. Simple and pink.
Hear is a trick I figured out. I didn't want a "real" bed skirt that goes under the mattress. The reason for this is that my daughter would just mess with it and it would always be short on one side and long on the other. So what did I do? I pinned it in place! I got a pack of $1.00 tacks at Walmart and tacked the skirt to the wood box spring.
Pretty smart huh! {I tried to do this to my king size box spring...didn't work. Apparently mine is made of metal. :( }

Do you have ugly shades like this?! Well, we rent so I can't change it. So what can I do?
Use Velcro!

Simple and cute. I added a strip of pink from the bed skirt fabric to tie it together.
The top of this window has a 1 inch lip. So I attached some adhesive Velcro to the top, and stitched some Velcro to the drapes.

Sorry, hard to see the Velcro here.

Here is the stitched Velcro.

I added some fabric rosettes to cuten it up. Is that a word, cuten?
Oh well.
So her room is almost done. Only about 10 things left to do. LOL!

  1. I found you via New Friend Friday and given my affinity for all things purple, I'm glad I did :)

  2. How pretty, I love the shades of pink and purple that you are using!
I am a new follower from New Friend Friday, so glad to have found your blog. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Cute. I bet your daughter is excited too. Doesn't it feel good to get a room more done too. I know it does for me. Thank you for linking this up! Go you on doing it. Happy Friday to you.

  4. Love it! I think you really did "cuten" it up ;) Thanks for linking up to Thrilling Thursdays @ Paisley Passions :)

  5. Great room! I love valance cheats!

  6. I had some of those same ugly shades & finally threw them out. I rent too but I knew my landlord wouldn't mind. That is such a great idea to velcro a valance over them!

  7. I love the bedskirt idea. I am going to have to do that on my daughters bed.
